Parippu Vada / Dal Vada / Dal fritters




Ingredients
  1. Chana dal - 1 cup
  2. shallots or onion - 6 nos or 1 no
  3. Green chilly - 2 nos
  4. Ginger  - 1/2 tsp (finely chopped)
  5. Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  6. Curry leaves - 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
  7. Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  8. Salt - to taste
  9. Oil - for frying
Preparation
  1. Soak  chana dal for 2-3 hours and drain water completely.
  2. Grind dal in a mixer for few seconds and care should be taken not to grind it to a smooth paste.
  3. Add all the ingredients into this crushed dal except oil.
  4. Make small balls out of this dal mix.
  5. Heat oil in a pan.
  6. Wet your hands and flatten the dal mix.
  7. When the oil is hot enough, fry the vadas in medium flame till it becomes crispy and brown outside.
  8.  Drain the excess oil using kitchen tissues.
  9. Serve hot with a cup of tea
