Parippu Vada / Dal Vada / Dal fritters
Ingredients
- Chana dal - 1 cup
- shallots or onion - 6 nos or 1 no
- Green chilly - 2 nos
- Ginger - 1/2 tsp (finely chopped)
- Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
- Curry leaves - 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
- Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
- Salt - to taste
- Oil - for frying
Preparation
- Soak chana dal for 2-3 hours and drain water completely.
- Grind dal in a mixer for few seconds and care should be taken not to grind it to a smooth paste.
- Add all the ingredients into this crushed dal except oil.
- Make small balls out of this dal mix.
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Wet your hands and flatten the dal mix.
- When the oil is hot enough, fry the vadas in medium flame till it becomes crispy and brown outside.
- Drain the excess oil using kitchen tissues.
- Serve hot with a cup of tea
