Dal Fry

Dal Fry is a popular north indian recipe.It is moderately spiced with a combination of masoor dal and yellow moong dal.Dal fry tastes best when it is served with jeera rice.Quick and easy to make.





Ingredients


  1. yellow moong dal            - 1/4 cup 
  2. Red masoor dal               -1 cup 
  3. Turmeric                          -1/4 tsp 
  4. Green chillies                  -2 
  5. Grated ginger                  -1 tsp 
  6. Grated garlic                   -1 tsp 
  7. Ghee                               -2 tbsp 
  8. Mustard seeds                 -1/2 tsp 
  9. Cumin seeds                    -1/2 tsp
  10. Onions                             -1/2 cup 
  11. Coriander                         -1 tbsp
  12. salt
preparation
  1. Combine 2 1/2 cups of water,dals,turmeric,chillies,ginger garlic and salt,mix well and pressure cook for 2 whistles.
  2. Heat the ghee in a kadhai, add the mustard seeds,cumin seeds on a medium flame for a few seconds.
  3. Add the onions and sauté on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes, till the onions turn translucent.
  4. Add the prepared cooked dal, ¼ cup of water, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
  5. Serve immediately garnished with coriander.
