Methi Mutter Masala

Methi Mutter masala is a common name for my friends in North india.But for those who are from kerala,Tamil Nadu & all, this name may be unfamiliar.Methi is nothing but uluva cheera and mutter is  green peas , so the name methi mutter masala.


Ingredients


  1. Onion                           -  3 nos
  2. Tomato                         -  4 nos
  3. Garlic                           - 5 pods
  4. Methi leaves                 - 2 1/2 cups
  5. Green peas                    - 1 cup
  6. cashews                         - 10 nos
  7. cumin seeds                   - 1 tsp
  8. chilli powder                 - 1/2 tsp
  9. Coriander powder          - 1 tsp
  10. Garam masala                 - 1/2 tsp
  11. Cumin powder                - 1/2 tsp
  12. Oil
  13. Butter

Preparation

  1. Heat 2 tsp oil and 1 tbsp butter in a pan.when it melts, add cashews.
  2. When cashews become brown in colour , add cumin seeds and let it sizzle.
  3. Add chopped onions and garlic into it.Saute till it browns.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes into it and saute till it is cooked well.
  5. Remove the pan from heat and let it cool.
  6. After cooling,  grind them into a fine paste.
  7. Heat the same pan and add 1 tsp oil.
  8. Add methi leaves and saute for a couple of minutes.
  9. Now add the ground paste and cooked green peas.
  10. Lower the heat and add 1/4 cup of water.
  11. You can also add milk or fresh cream instead of water.
  12. Serve with chapati or rice.
