Methi Mutter Masala
Methi Mutter masala is a common name for my friends in North india.But for those who are from kerala,Tamil Nadu & all, this name may be unfamiliar.Methi is nothing but uluva cheera and mutter is green peas , so the name methi mutter masala.
Preparation
Ingredients
- Onion - 3 nos
- Tomato - 4 nos
- Garlic - 5 pods
- Methi leaves - 2 1/2 cups
- Green peas - 1 cup
- cashews - 10 nos
- cumin seeds - 1 tsp
- chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
- Coriander powder - 1 tsp
- Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
- Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
- Oil
- Butter
Preparation
- Heat 2 tsp oil and 1 tbsp butter in a pan.when it melts, add cashews.
- When cashews become brown in colour , add cumin seeds and let it sizzle.
- Add chopped onions and garlic into it.Saute till it browns.
- Add chopped tomatoes into it and saute till it is cooked well.
- Remove the pan from heat and let it cool.
- After cooling, grind them into a fine paste.
- Heat the same pan and add 1 tsp oil.
- Add methi leaves and saute for a couple of minutes.
- Now add the ground paste and cooked green peas.
- Lower the heat and add 1/4 cup of water.
- You can also add milk or fresh cream instead of water.
- Serve with chapati or rice.
