Gobi Manchurian



Ingredients

For the batter
  1. Cauliflower (Gobi)                      - 1 ½ cup
  2. Flour (maida)                              - 4 tbsp
  3. Cornflour                                     - 4 tbsp
  4. Chilli powder                                - 1 tsp
  5. Soya sauce                                   - ½ tsp
  6. Ginger garlic paste                       - 1 ½ tsp
  7. Salt                                               - to taste
For the sauce mix
  1. Garlic                             - 4 cloves (chopped)
  2. Spring onion                  - 2 tbsp (chopped)
  3. Onion                             - 1 medium (diced)
  4. Capsicum                       - ½ (diced)
  5. Tomato sauce (ketchup) - 2 tbsp
  6. Red chili sauce               - 1 tsp
  7. Soy sauce                       - ½ tsp
  8. Corn flour                       - 1 tsp mixed with 3 tbsp of water
  9. Pepper powder                - ½ tsp
  10. Red chili flakes               - a pinch
  11. Sugar                               - a pinch
  12. Salt                                  - to taste
  13. Oil                                   - 2 tbsp
   Preparation

            For fried Gobi 


1. Make a thick paste with the above ingredients for batter except cauliflower, adding   very little water to make  a thick paste. Mix the cauliflower in the prepared batter and keep it aside for 20 minutes.  
2. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the marinated cauliflowers till golden brown on medium flame.

For the Sauce Mix

  1. Heat oil in a pan, add chopped garlic and spring onion to it and saute for few seconds. To this add the diced onion and saute for 2 minutes.
  2. Add diced capsicum and saute for another 2 - 3 minutes. Add the sauces to it and mix well. Add enough salt and 3 - 4 tbsp water and bring to boil.
  3. To this add the corn flour paste and cook for a minute or two stirring continuously.
  4. Add pepper powder and chili flakes and mix well.
  5. Add the fried cauliflower to this sauce and mix well.
