Gobi Manchurian
Ingredients
For the batter
- Cauliflower (Gobi) - 1 ½ cup
- Flour (maida) - 4 tbsp
- Cornflour - 4 tbsp
- Chilli powder - 1 tsp
- Soya sauce - ½ tsp
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 ½ tsp
- Salt - to taste
For the sauce mix
- Garlic - 4 cloves (chopped)
- Spring onion - 2 tbsp (chopped)
- Onion - 1 medium (diced)
- Capsicum - ½ (diced)
- Tomato sauce (ketchup) - 2 tbsp
- Red chili sauce - 1 tsp
- Soy sauce - ½ tsp
- Corn flour - 1 tsp mixed with 3 tbsp of water
- Pepper powder - ½ tsp
- Red chili flakes - a pinch
- Sugar - a pinch
- Salt - to taste
- Oil - 2 tbsp
For fried Gobi
1. Make a thick paste with the above ingredients for batter except cauliflower, adding very little water to make a thick paste. Mix the cauliflower in the prepared batter and keep it aside for 20 minutes.
2. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the marinated cauliflowers till golden brown on medium flame.
For the Sauce Mix
- Heat oil in a pan, add chopped garlic and spring onion to it and saute for few seconds. To this add the diced onion and saute for 2 minutes.
- Add diced capsicum and saute for another 2 - 3 minutes. Add the sauces to it and mix well. Add enough salt and 3 - 4 tbsp water and bring to boil.
- To this add the corn flour paste and cook for a minute or two stirring continuously.
- Add pepper powder and chili flakes and mix well.
- Add the fried cauliflower to this sauce and mix well.
