Mulaku Bajji / Mirch Pakora / Banana Pepper Fritters

This is a quick snack that can be prepared as an evening snack or for any special occasions. This Mulaku bajji takes me back to good memories of having hot bajjis from exhibitions. Bajji chilies are not spicy and you can even stuff the chilies with desired stuffing of your choice.

Ingredients
  1. Banana Pepper/ Bajji Mulaku - 8 nos
  2. Besan / gram flour - 2 cups
  3. Rice flour - 1tbsp
  4. Chili powder - 3/4 tsp
  5. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  6. Jeera powder - a pinch
  7. Cooking soda - a pinch
  8. Asafoetida (Hing) - a pinch
  9. Salt - to taste
  10. Oil - for frying
Preparation

  1. Wash chilies and make a slit on the side to remove the seeds.
  2. Mix all ingredients except green chilies with enough water to get the right consistency, neither a thick nor too thin batter.
  3. Heat oil in a pan for deep frying the bajjis.
  4. When the oil is hot enough, reduce the flame to medium heat.
  5. Dip the chilies in batter completely and fry them till they turn golden.
  6. Serve hot with green chutney or ketchup.
