Gulab Jamun
Ingredients
- All purpose flour - 1 tbsp
- Melted butter - 1 tbsp
- Milk powder - 1 cup
- Baking powder - 1 tsp
- Egg - 1 (large)
- Sugar - 1 ½ cup
- Water - 2 ¼ cup
- Cardamom powder - ½ tsp
- Lemon juice - 1 tbsp
Preparation
- Lets start with making sugar syrup for dipping gulab jamuns so that we can add fried jamuns to the hot sugar syrup.
- Take sugar, water, cardamom powder and lemon juice in a thick bottomed pan.
- when it starts to boil, lower the flame and keep it for 5-8 minutes until it gets a syrup texture.keep this aside.
- combine all purpose flour, milk powder, baking powder and mix well.
- To this dry ingredients, add melted butter and egg.Knead this mixture to a smooth dough.
- Make small balls out of this dough.
- Heat oil in a thick bottomed pan and fry these balls in medium hot oil.
- Please make sure that the oil is not too hot, otherwise the outer part of jamuns will get browned quickly leaving inner part uncooked.
- Add these fried jamuns to the prepared sugar syrup and cook on low flame for about 5 minutes.
