Gulab Jamun


Ingredients

  1. All purpose flour                -  1 tbsp
  2. Melted butter                      - 1 tbsp
  3. Milk powder                       - 1 cup
  4. Baking powder                   - 1 tsp
  5. Egg                                     - 1 (large)
  6. Sugar                                  - 1 ½ cup
  7. Water                                  - 2 ¼ cup
  8. Cardamom powder             - ½ tsp
  9. Lemon juice                       - 1 tbsp
Preparation
  1. Lets start with making sugar syrup for dipping gulab jamuns so that we can add fried jamuns to the hot sugar syrup.
  2. Take sugar, water, cardamom powder and lemon juice in a thick bottomed pan.
  3. when it starts to boil, lower the flame and keep it for 5-8 minutes until it gets a syrup texture.keep this aside.
  4. combine all purpose flour, milk powder, baking powder and mix well.
  5. To this dry ingredients, add melted butter and egg.Knead this mixture  to a smooth dough.
  6. Make small balls out of this dough.
  7. Heat oil in a thick bottomed pan and fry these balls in medium hot oil.
  8. Please make sure that the oil is not too hot, otherwise the outer part of jamuns will get browned quickly leaving inner part uncooked.
  9. Add these fried jamuns to the prepared sugar syrup and cook on low flame for about 5 minutes.
